At Eyecare Associates our highly trained contact lens technicians specialize in fitting all types of contact lenses. Including disposable soft lenses, extended wear lenses, and gas permeable lenses. Recent improvements in lens materials have even made it possible for those who could not previously wear contact lenses to enjoy the benefits of contact lens wear.
Gas permeable contact lenses are contact lenses made of hard plastic materials that are designed to allow oxygen to pass through.
Scleral lenses are a type of large diameter gas permeable contact lens. Instead of covering only a portion of the cornea like a traditional gas permeable contact lens, these large diameter contact lenses cover the entire corneal surface.
MiSight lenses are daily disposable, soft contact lenses used to control myopia (nearsightedness) progression in children. Myopia control is designed to change the focusing power of the eye while it’s still in its growth of development. If not addressed, myopia can get progressively worse in your child as they grow older. If your child has been diagnosed with myopia, or if you would like to reduce the likelihood of your child developing myopia, schedule an appointment with us today and ask your optometrist about MiSight.
During your contact lens exam the doctor will take very specific measurements of your eye, so that you may be assured of the best possible fit. Some of these tests include the size and front curvature of your eye, the cells of your cornea, and the diameter needed for your contact lenses. These measurements will be taken on an annual basis. Changes may warrant the need for updates of your existing contact lens prescription or style, even though they may feel comfortable to you. After your exam you will be directed to the contact lens technician. They will schedule your contact lens fitting, answer any questions you may have, and also discuss fees with you.
