Recovery Overview

Cataract Surgery Recovery: What to Expect

Most cataract procedures are outpatient, meaning you’ll return home the same day. In the days immediately following surgery, it’s common for the eye to feel tender, light-sensitive, or watery.

Medications and Follow-Up

After surgery, you’ll begin using prescribed drops to help reduce inflammation, control eye pressure, and prevent infection. Our team will schedule follow-up appointments to monitor your healing and ensure your recovery is on track.

Healing Timeline

Recovery varies from person to person, but many patients notice significantly improved vision within about a week. Complete healing generally takes three to four weeks. During this time, some mild itching or irritation is expected and should gradually improve.
